Challenge
In a world of increasing complexity and change, leadership skills are more important than ever. Developing leadership skills can significantly impact a student’s ability to influence, inspire, and achieve success in various aspects of life which is why the Omani Diwan and Ministry for Education were keen on this piece of work.
Solution
We help students learn more than just traditional subjects. Working with our partner, Careernet, for the Omani Diwan and Ministry for Education, we created a mobile learning programme to help teenagers develop their leadership skills.
The programme is based on ‘The 5Qs’ – a research-driven leadership skills approach aimed at senior business leaders, but adapted for young people, and contextualised to the leadership opportunities they experience, such as within their families, peer groups and local communities.
The 5Qs represent five quotients/types of leadership intelligence that leaders must use together to achieve transformational change, each of which can be through learning activities and practice. The five intelligences ‘Qs’ are:
- IQ | Cognitive Intelligence – acquiring and synthesising knowledge, using deductive reasoning, creating compelling arguments
- EQ | Emotional Intelligence – harnessing the emotions of yourself and others, and improving relationships
- PQ | Political Intelligence – navigating complex and competing stakeholder agendas, and maintaining engagement with key players
- RQ | Resilience Quotient – sustaining high performance when the going gets tough
- MQ | Moral Intelligence – applying ethical principles to goals, values and actions
Active users | 10,300+ |

Completed (all 10 modules) | 5,800+ |
Digital badges awarded | 66,400+ |
Our programme was designed in conjunction with the book’s authors and aimed at young people learning at home. It comprises 10 interactive 1-hour sessions taken on phones/tablets, with learning and activities around the 5Qs, developing an understanding of leadership and how to apply it in everyday life. The sessions present common challenges that teenagers find familiar and aim to consider each of these through the lenses of each of the 5Qs.
