ALPHAPLUS INTERNAL OPPORTUNITY –12-MONTH SECONDMENT IN THE FIRST INSTANCE

Salary: £37500 – £39750 (plus cost of living pay increase from April 2026) subject to qualifications and experience

AlphaPlus has secured a contract for assessment development and delivery for a major UK regulator, and is pleased to offer the opportunity for a member of AlphaPlus staff to be seconded to the project delivery team in the role of operational manager.  The secondment is full-time for 12 months in the first instance.

The operational manager will be a part of the project delivery team based in Manchester and will be line-managed by the project manager.  They will take ownership of first line candidate support, taking responsibility for decision making regarding reasonable adjustments, special considerations and managing complaints. They will also be required to deputise for the project manager (including in internal and external stakeholder meetings).

They will co-ordinate, oversee and manage all activities relating to providing first line candidate support for the project and deputising for the project manager and fulfilling other tasks related to project management and facilitating the operational delivery of the project as appropriate. The operational manager will be working across several teams within AlphaPlus and will manage the progress of tasks and deliverables across these teams.

They will be expected to work 09:00-17:00 and be expected to attend the Manchester office on two days per week as a minimum.

Candidates must possess:

  • Good GCSEs in maths and English or equivalent
  • Good GCE A levels or equivalent
  • Second class honours or above (essential) in a relevant degree (desirable) or equivalent relevant professional experience
  • Demonstrably high standard of computer literacy especially Microsoft Office and database systems
  • Excellent proof-reading skills
  • A successful track record (minimum of one year) working in a role requiring extensive internal and/or external collaboration to achieve the desired outcomes
  • Experience of developing policies/procedures
  • Evidence of decision making
  • Experience of developing, implementing and working with quality control processes

The following would be useful but are not essential:

  • A customer service background and/or background in accessibility/ test development
  • Experience of management and/or operations
  • Experience working in a customer-facing role

The company offers hybrid working (two days per week minimum in the office, with three days working at home).  The exact allocation of office-based days is decided by the appointee’s manager, although flexibility remains our policy and approach.
